Pad Holder Super Cup Series Round 1 and 2
Many may not know, but Cheap Fast Racing is about all kinds of Racing. There’s no better place to start your racing career then in Karting. Team Owner Darren Dilley’s son Lewis has been karting for the past several years. Lewis aka “The Future” has seen great success in the Junior 1 LO206 Class, with lots of podiums and some wins in his young career, Lewis and the team were looking for a strong start in the Pad Holder Super Cup Series. With the combination of Cheap Fast Racing and Blackstar Motorsports, Lewis was ready to conquer the weekend. Saturday in Richland, Washington was wet and for Lewis this was a pretty large disadvantage. Not due to lack of experience, but the fact he was not able to get a set of good rain tires (Supply Shortage). He was forced onto an old set of intermediate tires while the rest of the field was on full wets, yup just like F1!.Well Lewis performed well above expectations, driving like the future we all see in him, Lewis would qualify on the pole. During the Pre Final, he held on as long as he could and brought home an incredible 3rd place finish. Not only was it the wrong tires, Lewis was the least experienced of the top finishers at the Tri Cities Karting Track. Starting 3rd in the Final, Lewis stayed strong and held off all the competition to keep his 3rd place position. Extremely strong start to the weekend.
Sunday was a whole other race. Track was dry and sun was shinning. During qualifying, “The Future” showed everyone he was the one to beat by qualifying on pole for the second straight day!!! Pre-Final came up early in the afternoon and Lewis rocketed off the standing start and built a strong lead. Fighting through some heavy lap traffic, Lewis kept his calm and ran one of the best races so far in his young career. Leading Flag to Flag and picking up his 1st win of the season. This put him on pole for the Final. The start of the final was much of the same. He rocketed out to a strong early lead, but this time lap traffic would play a much bigger role. Getting held up a few times, Lewis was in a battle with 2 laps to go and 2nd place was all over his backside as the white flag came out. Lewis did everything he could to try and shake 2nd place off his back. They came into the final corner nose to tail. Lewis came rocketing out of the last turn to just hold onto the win by .235. Lewis should his magic in that last lap by making it his fastest lap of the race. He showed amazing pose and determination to take home the win.
The start of the season is strong for the Future of Cheap Fast Racing. Two 3rd place Finishes and a Pair of 1st sets the team up for a strong season in the Pad Holder Super Cup Series. Huge shout out to Blackstar Motorsports for all their incredible effort and guidance during the weekend. This was a true small team effort and in Cheap Fast Fashion, beating the “Big Teams” always feels great!
