The Inaugural Mazda Reunion Race and Corral - June 15/16th at PIR
The Mazda Reunion Race and Corral prepares to take place at Portland International Raceway on June 15th and 16th for Fathers Day weekend. Nearly 20 rotary race cars will do battle in their own feature race. Production and Vintage RX2’s, RX3’s, and RX7’s from all generations will be racing against one another on Saturday at 11:10am and Sunday at 12:40pm. Additionally the PNW Spec Miata Tour is hosting round four of their championship at the Mazda Reunion event. 20+ Spec Miatas will do battle against one another on Saturday at 2:40pm and Sunday at 2:40pm.
Admission is free for everyone. Come watch the racing, bring your Mazda to the car corral, and celebrate Fathers day weekend at the race track!
Some key cars that will be racing in the Rotary Reunion feature include Cheap Fast Racing’s 3rd Gen. GT2 Mazda RX7 as well as Wouter Bouman’s 20B Turbo powered RX7. Multiple tube frame GT cars will square off against one another in the R1 class.
In the R2 class you will find a great field of production based Rotary powered cars. Including RX2’s and 1st & 2nd Gen. RX7's. Some drivers to watch include Scott Hanken, Danny Bradshaw, Austin Bradshaw, Terry Overdiek, Jeff Remfert, Kale Swifts, Kurt Frietzsche, Duane Martinsen, and Jeremy Villalva.
In the PNW Spec Miata Tour race you will find some of the fastest Miata drivers on the West Coast. Some of which include, Ken Sutherland, Will Schrader, Tracey Hazard, Gary Bockman, Eric Jones, and Jason Brassfield. This will be one of the most competitive races of the weekend and it surely won’t disappoint.
Bring your father out to celebrate Fathers Day! Admission is free and the racing is great. The Mazda car corrals will begin on Saturday and Sunday at 8:00am. All Mazdas welcome!
